Overview

Wilton youth tackle football teams are travel teams in the Fairfield County Football League (FCFL).  Wilton has a long tradition of winning and competing in the FCFL championship games each year.  Our volunteer coaches bring incredible passion, knowledge and sacrifice to support Wilton's youth.  Go, Warriors!!!

The FCFL is a development league and its top two (2) focuses are player safety and skill development.  Thus the rules are unique to Fairfield County.  We do not play by classic Pop Warner or other youth football rules.  As an example, there are no kick offs, returned punts or onside kicks in the FCFL.

The FCFL follows USA Football's 'Heads Up' philosophy which is the 'Gold' standard for commitment to player safety.  The FCFL is considered a 'Gold' standard nationally for player safety and skill development.

Generally at each grade level there are three practices per week and one game each weekend.  Young athletes are encouraged to play other fall sports, but a minimum of two practices is required to participate in each game.

Programs - Seasons

Wilton youth football has four (4) seasons:

  • Fall - Aug/Nov
  • Winter - Feb/March
  • Spring - April/May
  • Summer - June/Aug

The fall season is our regular season and consists of eight (8) games plus the playoffs.

The winter, spring, and summer seasons are our skill development time periods.  These seasons include camps, clinics and other skill development opportunities.  A majority of the developmental sessions are led by the High School players and coaches.

The fall season consists of two programs -

  • Rookie Football - Grades 2* - 4
  • Tackle Football - Grade 4 - 8

*2nd graders must try out for the 3rd grade team
